Hub City Writers Project Offers College Scholarships in 2012


The Hub City Writers Project offers two $1,000 first-year scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Spartanburg County who expect to attend a university or college fall 2012 and will pursue their interests in creative writing. Established in 2012, the scholarships are intended to encourage the development of creative writers from Spartanburg County.

If you are a high school senior in Spartanburg County and would like to apply, contact the guidance counselor at your school for an application. Applications must be submitted to your guidance counselor by March 31, 2012. To be eligible, you must satisfy all of the following criteria:

--You are passionate about creative writing: fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, or playwriting.

--You will graduate spring 2012 from a public or private high school located in Spartanburg County.

--You expect to attend a college or university in fall 2012.

The application must include a 300-word explanation of your commitment to creative writing and three to ten pages of your creative writing (fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, or playwriting).

The Spartanburg County Foundation is our partner in this scholarship program.
