Pacolet Milliken Enterprises Donates Former Textile Facility to Abbeville County

Abbeville County is the proud recipient of a generous gift from Pacolet Milliken Enterprises, Inc. that will foster economic development and industrial recruitment for the region. Pacolet Milliken recently deeded the former Milliken Honea Path textile facility to Abbeville County.

The property donation will allow Abbeville County to market the site to potential industrial manufacturers. It is expected that Greenwood County and Anderson County will actively help market the site for job creation in their respective counties. The Upstate SC Alliance and the South Carolina Department of Commerce will also use the property as a tool for industrial recruitment.

Pacolet Milliken recognized the contribution Abbeville County had made in the success of the Milliken & Company textile plant and that relationship was a contributing factor for the generous gift. The need for jobs and the proximity to Anderson and Greenwood Counties labor pools also factored into the decision. All three counties are suffering double digit unemployment.

“Abbeville County is grateful for the generosity shown to our citizens by Pacolet Milliken,” said Steve Bowles, Development Services Director for Abbeville County.

“Now it is our responsibility to put this gift to good use and continue to create jobs we need to build a brighter future for our citizens,” added Bowles.

Formed in 2007 by Milliken & Company and Milliken’s Chairman Roger Milliken, Pacolet Milliken Enterprises Inc. is a privately owned investment company that actively manages real estate, energy & natural resources and investment holdings.
