Danny Morrison, President of the Carolina Panthers, is to speak at the Spartanburg Area Chamber’s Spring CEO Social on Monday, April 19th. The event, presented by Dixon Hughes, is to be held from 5:30 to 7:00PM at the Harley Room in the Richardson Athletic Building on the campus of Wofford College. An influential figure in the Spartanburg Community for many years, Morrison will be the keynote speaker at this Chamber event geared towards CEOs, business owners, Presidents, and General Managers.A native of Burlington, NC, Morrison attended Wofford, where he lettered four years in basketball and graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. He went on to obtain a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of North Carolina and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of South Carolina. He returned to Wofford in 1985 to serve as the school’s first full-time Director of Athletics and served in that capacity for 12 years, guiding the Terriers from NAIA to Division II to Division I-AA and membership in the Southern Conference. Morrison was named President of the Carolina Panthers in September of 2009, but his association with the organization began many years earlier when he oversaw the implementation of the Panther’s training camp at Wofford College. Morrison’s relationship with the NFL Team began in 1995 with the inaugural season of the team at Wofford College. As Director of Athletics, he oversaw a fundraising effort that enabled the school to refurbish its facilities in order to host the NFL training camp. Directly prior to joining the Panthers, Morrison spent five years as Director of Athletics at Texas Christian University and as the Commissioner of the Southern Conference.
